Digital Odyssey was officially launched last week in Murray Bridge South Australia by Elizabeth Ann Macgregor Director of the MCA.

The evening launch was held on the Captain Proud paddle steamer on the Murray River, with 3 of Craig’s projection artworks on display nearby including: Humanature, 2010 with the face of local Murray Bridge resident Jacqui Merckenschlager projected into a large tree in the nearby reserve; Classification Pending, 2007/2010 a 3-channel projection of an animated creature into the river itself; and Parasitism, 2006/2010 a giant bloodsucking leach projected onto one of the Murray Bridge’s pylons!

The launch was attended by over 140 guests including Craig and his family; local Murray Bridge residents, artists and members of the arts community; staff from project partner Country Arts SA and members and staff from the Rural City of Murray Bridge including Mayor Arbon; project supporters Alan Imrie and Alison Miers from Coachmen Motorhomes Australia; staff from the local Telstra Business Centre; Ngarrindjeri Elder and welcome to country speaker Auntie Eileen McHughes; MCA staff and local and national journalists.

The launch was a great night. At one point the paddle steamer started to get a bit of a lean what with so many people on board, but it all added to a wonderfully entertaining and memorable evening!  A big thank you to everyone who made it possible, launch guests and the Rural City of Murray Bridge!
